[Using Sakai] Course Roll over process

Dear All

Would like to enquire how the SAKAI community deals with the course roll over process especially with regards to archiving, allowing for courses to remain visible to students once they've completed the course ( for portfolio use etc) and resetting courses with student generated content removed.
Our needs are thus as follows:

1) To enable the previous year's courses to be rolled over with the new current year appended to course name, with instructor generated content intact but with student generated content removed .

2) To ensure that previous year courses are removed/invisible . (How do other universities deal with archiving of content?)

3) To allow for the option to have previous years courses (which are archived automatically) to be visible to either previous years students or instructors of the course. Lecturers must have the option to make visible or not. (This will be necessary for envisaged eportfolio use...)

4) To allow for creation of new courses with new clean slate ( In house Course Creator tool used)
We're loathe to start development from scratch if this has already been done by the community. Any assistance/advice will, as always, be greatly appreciated.
