Actually the problem with the login form:

Was *not* browser-related.  It only worked when the password in the top login screen matched the password field and new password field in the "New Account" form.  So if you saved the password for the form and when you do dev testing you always use the same password for all your dummy new users - it seemed to work.

The solution was to rename the id= tags on the eid, pw, and pw0 forms on the new account tool.

The change has been committed and should be there on the 8AM rebuild of nightly so we can all go and start playing with the lack of iframes - and find more little glitches like this.

I have investigated and fixed lots of little things in the markup battle between tools and the portal and the fact that the portal rarely has forms has meant that this has not been an issue.  The other place that portal makes forms is in portal chat - so we might want to look at the naming of the id= on form inputs there as well.
