[Using Sakai] Math Science Equation Editing Options with FCK editor

Dear Sakai Users,

I know support for math/science equation editing has been under discussion for years in the Sakai community. Has anyone come up with a solution that supports both rendering and authoring as a plug-in to the FCK editor, by any chance?

We are looking at WIRIS as a possibility and would be interested in hearing from anyone who has explored this or something else and possibly found an acceptable solution.
