A few brief notes and updates.

2.9.1 Status -
It's becoming clear to me (and others) that we are not going to make a December date for 2.9.1 . A lot of great work has gone into 2.9.1, we have over 70 fixes, which is pretty awesome in so short a time, including the updated Help files (thanks Matt!!!) but we haven't got RC01 out yet, so it looks like this will be a January 2013 release. I'll be sending a broader community announcement over the next day or two. Need to think how to word it because as soon as RC01 is out, we will need as much QA as we can get, so that we can make the January 2013 release. RC01 might be out this week, if not, it seems like it will be almost certainly available next week (I think), so expect to do a lot of testing over Christmas (Ha!).

Community participation -
I plan to organize at least a couple of webinars to educate and promote 2.9 in Q1 2013, based on feedback from TCC. Btw, thanks to Unicon for letting me use Adobe Connect to help with the Test Fests, but that ain't gonna work anymore, courtesy of an Adobe upgrade/change to how virtual offices work. Ian D. is going to check on an Adobe Connect license for Apereo, which means some Apereo stuff may have to happen first. My hope is that 2.9 webinars might stimulate community conversations that could be helpful to make connections in other areas, like Accessibility, Security, etc. I think it would be good to partner with a TCC member for these presentations. Something to think about.

Jira cleanup -
We discussed ways to keep on top of Jira issues more proactively. The idea we came up with is to assign TCC folks/ institutions a handful of tickets a week (let's say about 10). With over 10 institutions on the TCC, we could get pairs of eyes on up to 100 tickets a week. Not sure how sustainable this will be, but worth a try. I tried the first 10 with Alan "Guinea Pig" Berg. Be expecting some Jira tickets coming your way soon. If you are not available for the holidays, just let me know (or I'll get the email out of office message from you).

Thanks and Happy Holidays!
