[Using Sakai] Addendum to "Save and release" problem

I have an assignment that I graded for a student and no matter how many
times I have gone into that student's assignment to grade it, and clicked
"save and release to student" it refuses to do the return part, and
continues to show "graded" and not "returned."  What would this be caused
by?  Thanks.
