[Using Sakai] Faculty/course metrics in Sakai?

With the growth of MOOCs and LMS systems, there are several interest data collection, analysis, and data mining opportunities that are being explored. Although an LMS like Sakai does not give the same massive datasets as a MOOC, it does provide a lot of potentially interesting data, and I am interested in how other schools might be using and analyzing it.

For example, the forums provide an interesting trace of faculty-student and student-student interactions. One could think of several possibly interesting metrics, such as eth average response time of a faculty to messages. The percentage of responses that were from faculty v.s. students. The average depth of threads, number of threads, etc.

Has anyone done any similar data analysis of forum or course data? Again, for example, correlations of assignment submissions and forum participations, correlations of faculty forum or other interaction activities with amount of student response.

Any ideas or existing projects are of interest!
