Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look at the feedback tool, I haven't tried that yet.
Else I will just post the total score online as an assignment result, and use an external Excel spreadsheet and do a bulk email from Work with each person's results.

Yes, assignments can be electronic, but do not have individual items like exams do.

The usage scenario is that we get them on paper from remote proctor locations, but give results and feedback online after grading.
