[Using Sakai] Sakai reports & name formats

I am using a report for  this, since it is  the only way I can customize the date range to the actual course dates. However I see that from a regular overview statistics report the same thing is given.

In my example, a name is  "L1 L2, First", but I think there would also be other examples "Wilson Jr., Bob".

[It would sure be nice to be able to adjust the date range without having to use a report, or perhaps set the course start date somewhere?
In this case the course was created long before it was published or started, so no date range available from SiteStats works properly.

I also notice that if I use a long date range in a report, the data axis is all heavily overlaid on itself (basically giving a black line of overlaid text), trying to give a full day-month-year label for every axis mark. A nicer major/minor tick mark and labeling scheme would be nice.


Is this a report using the "Reports" tool, or something from Site Stats tool?
