[Using Sakai] Sakai Assignment Information

Hi Paul,

It is strongly recommended to use Sakai's APIs instead of attempting to 
access the data directly through the database.

Sakai has a strong set of web services (SOAP). Here is a starter doc:

Here is an additional web services file developed by UCT that has 
methods to retrieve assignments content:
