> Replying to only user list so this doesn't end up cross posted--we have not specifically looked at this. However, our UX group did prioritize finding a way to create easy multifile upload/download. Our dev team is thinking about a javascript based solution--would require specific browsers but at least wil work on newer OSs, unlike WebDav. The only other project addressing this is zip/unzip uploaded/downloaded fies (https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/KNL-273)

> Yesterday I said it would be cool if whatever solution we came up with worked like Dropbox. But this is the first time I have heard anyone suggest we actually integrate with Dropbox. Have you started exploring? Is this additional storage option, or is your aim to somehow integrate with Resources? The free 2 GB is bigger than our default quota for Resources.

This is my first information gathering attempt :-) We have a lot of users who already use cloud based services (many more than use Sakai My Workspace for storage ). We've been asked to integrate those services in the past and, although I don't have immediately development plans, I'm trying to get a sense of what others may have done in this area.

> Also, are there any concerns about hosting course files on external server? I suppose that's why we've never even thought about it, but universities may be getting over their concerns, not sure.

Michigan is considering its storage strategy on many levels (individual, class, departmental, research, etc.) and we'll likely end up with different solutions for different kinds of data/use-cases. The data sensitivity issue always comes up. We don't want people storing sensitive data in the cloud but there is a lot of data for which cloud solutions may be fine. And as I mentioned above, a large number of users are already using these services, so we need to balance policy and pragmatism.
