Dear Using Sakai List,

I'm hoping that the teams that are working on the Turnitin integrations for Sakai will be presenting an update at the conference in Los Angeles this year. Since the proposal deadline is today, I am sending out a shout out to encourage a proposal. If not, I did request a birds of a feather event on the topic, as backup.

FYI, Pepperdine University uses a modified integration for Turnitin. We worked with our hosting partner, Longsight, to mod the integration with the latest APIs back in 2009-2010. Specifically, we changed the model from automatically submitting student papers to the repository to requiring the professor to select that papers will be stored in the repository. We had several faculty that objected to the auto-store function. Also, the integration we had in our previous LMS required professors to opt-out of saving (and many professors didn't know that the default behavior was to save the papers). We essentially changed the model to an instructor opt-in process.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what changes are being made to the Content Review process for Turnitin. In addition, I am curious if there:
-- is a mechanism being added so that professors can upload documents on behalf of students?
-- is a development in place to leverage the PeerMark feature of Turnitin?
-- is a development in place to leverage the GradeMark feature of Turnitin (to use the rubric grading and talk back to the Assignment grades)?

If you are a developer working on Turnitin integration, I hope you'll consider submitting a proposal today (if you haven't already!).

Thanks for considering!

Sincerely,
