[Building Sakai] Looking for info/experience on Multi-Tenant or Multi-Institutional Sakai builds

Greetings,
 
Just a fishing expedition here on trying to find out if this is possible or not.  Our college is apart of a 3 state college system and we have had one of the other colleges come to us to entertain the idea of working together to provide Sakai to their college.  I am looking for any good reads on what this takes to do or if anyone has experience in doing this providing their own take on the setup/system.  
 
I would think I would be looking at 1 login page with 2 or 3 load balanced sakai app servers (currently we are load balancing 2 for our own college) and then 1 database behind.
