[Building Sakai] failed cache startup

Hi,

This sounds like a problem I had as an end user at Stockholm for several update cycles (> 1 yr). We use LDAP logins, and I would log in and nothng would happen. But if I opened a parallel tab in the same browser and started Sakai, I was immediately authenticated there and could go to work. This workaround worked consistently. It apparently happened to a very few users, but not randomly, always the same select few... After an upgrade about a year ago, it disappeared.
I'm an end user, not a programmer, but I presume our IT people could tell you more, if this is indeed related. Contact magnus.tagesson at su.se or madeleine.wedin-shemweta at su.se<mailto:madeleine.wedin-shemweta at su.se>. However, as it's vacation time in Sweden, there may be a long wait before you get a reply.

Good luck!

I haven't seen this in production but I've seen it on my desktop system. It takes like 2 min before ldap logins work. I can force them to work by clearing all caches. I assumed that some bogus cache entry is getting created during startup that eventually times out, but maybe that's the wrong diagnosis.

Hi,

Has someone found a solution or workaround to this issue?

Once that we integrate AD, when we test the login with an authenticated user we get error and logs described below, but we keep trying to login until we actually login.

Has anybody else (despite Stephen) experienced these issues with Active Directory? Any other suggestions or workaround?

Thanks,

Carla

Hi Carla,

The best list for this question is the sakai-dev list. So I'm forwarding to that group.

Thanks,
Neal

Hi,

We have deployed and installed Sakai 10.0 to test it. We integrated Active Directory but it seems that this is having some issues similar to the one described here:https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAK-26580

When a user tries to log in, the system sends the message of "An expected error has occurred" or tries to login and after some minutes sends a 500 Internal Error. Eventually, after trying many times the user is able to login.

Do you have any updates on this jira?

Thanks,

Carla
