However in *your* case, 2.8.x doesn't know about sonatype at all. And there
was no immediate plans to move the 2.8 artifacts over to sonatype.

If we do a 2.8.2 release though, that *could* change in the next month or
so, or we might just continue to deploying to source.sakaiproject.org.

Note the 2.8 master is still getting deployed to:
http://source.sakaiproject.org/maven2-snapshots/org/sakaiproject/master/

The 2.9 master is getting deployed to
https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/snapshots/org/sakaiproject/master/

2.8 doesn't know about the sonatype repository because the only way you
should need to know is if you're pulling in stuff that "doesn't entirely
belong" in 2.8 (like new lesson builders). So lesson builder should
probably define that as a repository locally.
