I think we should work on a 2.7 version, we will be running 2.7 for until next year and I think more institutions will be doing the same, so we will all have the problem for IE9

I'm not aware of any version of FCKeditor that fixes these issues and CKEditor is only in 2.8 for now. If there is interest, we could work on a 2.7 version, but adding it was quite involved.
