I would use Basic LTI tool instead of LinkTool as it is a standard and could be used from lots of different systems including Both Sakai 2 and Sakai OAE (Sakai 3) as well as things like Moodle.  LinkTool is a Sakai2-only tool.  Here is some documentation on the BasicLTI tool:
