Hi Nico,
+1
It will be a help to have this somewhere in cotrib and perhaps some documentation to use it.

Hi

We have also found the following plugin for FCK editor. This plugin uses pure LaTeX input and then generates an image on your server.

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1490723&group_id=75348&atid=737639

I had to change some of the plugin code to make it work in sakai/fckeditor, if anybody is interested in this. Please let me know and I will put the plugin in Crontrib

Cheers

Hi, Alan.

I have been testing the WIRIS Equation Editor the last days and it's a
great tool. In my opinion, is worth its prize. Also, they have an
awesome algebraic calculator.

However, in our college we don't expect this feature to be used too
much, so I have managed to install a GPL solution.

The LAMS Equation Editor
(http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lamsdocs/FCKEditor+Equation+Editor+Plugin)
works fine. You just need to change the LAMS FCKEditor path for the
Sakai's FCKEditor path in the install steps and it's pretty easy to make
it work.

Hope this helps.
Best regards.

Hi all,

I was at the Spanish Sakai Congress and saw a demonstration of a maths
editor. I am not endorsing the product, it is just I read a couple of
threads on this subject recently and thought I should pass on the
download link. I believe it is commercial. It is a Java applet that
generates images. The URL is:

Adam,

Thank you for your feedback. I will be placing your comments and
suggestions on the confluence page. I have gone ahead and created an
Appendix B that outlines volunteers and tasks
http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAKDEV/XWiki+Integration#XWikiIntegration-appendixB.
I added your name to the feature requirements as I thought the
questions you were asking are of value to coming up with a
comprehensive list of requirements. Let me know if you would prefer
not to be listed there.

Thanks for your input.

It looks good. I have some comments:

1/ is the intention that wiki pages would be searched by the current
serach tool?

2/ is PDF / RTF export really necessary?

3/ I agree with #12 regarding breadcrums, the current implementation
is a bit odd.

A useful addition to the confluencve page would be to outline which
features would be lost in moving to xwiki.

new Wiki integration effort

Hello all,

We have been looking at an alternative to Sakai's current rwiki and
after some investigation have been leaning toward XWiki and now feel
we're at a point to share this with this community. I have created a
confluence page that covers some of the investigative work we've done
and also takes a closer look at what would be involved to implement a
XWiki integration with Sakai. The confluence page is at
_http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAKDEV/XWiki+Integration_.
Please take a look at the link and feel free to share your thoughts,
suggestions and comments on this. Any input would be beneficial to
the work we're doing and to the community. Secondly, we would also
like to see if anyone is interested in assisting with either the
development (Sakai-side or wiki-side) or testing efforts. If so
please indicate in what way you would be willing to help out and how
much time you could dedicate.
Anyone interested in participating should try to respond before the
end of November.

Thank you,

I have yet to see any problem, however complicated, which, when, you looked at it in the right way, did not become still more complicated.
