[Building Sakai] Mail Delivery very slow

Hi,

When I send a message to another Sakai user that person gets the email
almost immediately.

But if I check the box that says
  - Send a copy of this message to recipients' email address(es)

That email can take hours to be delivered? Is there some sort of parameter
that says how often 
to send these emails? Can I change this?
