Agreed - I was just having some fun, and do not want to be a bad person.  :)  How about this?:
Precompiled Binaries

For those of you that prefer precompiled packages, you can find them here: http://git-scm.com/download.

I agree that we should be producing documents targeted at different cases - I kind of like the high level docs that allow you to drill down for more details only if they are needed.  This is intended to be one of those detail documents.  I will look at making the quick start quicker.  Best, L

I'm a big fan of people having ( github | bitbucket | launchpad )
accounts, but when I want to try out someones project I really just want
to check it out.

I think it's good that we have these instructions for macports, and
github, and whatever else, but I don't they should preclude fast
instructions for people who just want to get the code and build it.  I
think it's just a matter of providing relative documentation for folks
who wish to do different amounts of customization.

to rely on these kinds of packages, I have been sorely disappointed
as they tend to be slow to provide updates.  It makes it hard to

mention, you only need to learn it once to get access to over 12,000
