[Announcements] Incubation Process - Volunteers Needed

A recent Apereo Newsletter reported progress in the development of a new Apereo incubation process. This has been published at

Incubation is a core element of what we do as a community, and what we want to be. It provides structure - and shared experience - to help projects in their formative stages.

The new process places great emphasis on effectively mentoring new projects, software communities, and communities of interest.  If you are prepared to share your experience of involvement in software communities, or other communities of interest, please read the documentation linked above, and consider participating in the Apereo Mentors Program. 

The Program will offer opportunities to collaborate with new projects, learn from peers, and participate in mentoring training opportunities. The first of these, an online short course provided by Open Source Software Watch (OSSWatch) at the University of Oxford, will be announced shortly. 

Membership of the Apereo Mentors Program carries with it membership of the Apereo Incubation Working Group. This involves a core commitment to call of around an hour per month, and a varying amount of time working with incubating projects. It's a great way to gain experience and added perspectives. The Apereo Board of Directors requested that Jaeques Koeman, who chaired the recent incubation review, act as Chair of the new group. I am pleased to report that Jaeques agreed.
