[samigo-team] 2 Open Issues with SAMigo 2.9

*1. Email *I'm not a big fan of replacing the email feature with a mailto
link as I think it non-standard behavior for Sakai. One of the nice
side-effects of having Sakai send out all email is that all email can be
tracked. For example, if a student claims to never have received a
confirmation message from Sakai, the server admins can look in the Sakai
event logs and then in the university's mail logs to either track the error
or prove the email was successfully sent. Moving this functionality to the
instructor's desktop (or webmail) setup removes this ability.

That said, we have our hands full with several other patches, and if other
institutions are not offering to work on this functionality, then I think
the mailto workaround is better than the existing broken functionality. I
don't think repairing the existing functionality would be that difficult if
there is a new developer from another institution lurking on this thread.
Basically, it looks like the existing functionality depends on a phantom
submission from an onClick handler. This functionality could be rewritten to
pass over the required information in GET variables instead. Any takers?
If not, I vote for the mailto solution.

*2. Sorting* Yes, we are willing to work on this functionality. Many
non-developers at the conference were wondering how to make a contribution
to the Samigo project. Providing a spec with a couple of simple mockups
would be a great contribution. We will submit a patch based on the spec.
