[sakai2-tcc] Fwd: Informal Lazy Consensus - Tools Survey

I had no idea.
Why don't you call it Adobe Connect / Open Meeting Integration? Seems like end users would recognize it by those names.

Hey TCC,

Did y'all know this (see, I'm kind of a Southerner)? The Adobe Connect tool is not just for Adobe Connect. I wonder what most people call it/ think of it? Technically, it is the WebConference tool that is compatible with Adobe Connect and Open Meetings tool (https://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/ ). What to call it in the survey?

Thanks,
Neal

Hi Neal,
just saw this email and I think that the first tool you are listing is the one from Samoo, which I think that is the same tool for Adobe Connect and Open meeting (you configure it) but they made two different confluence pages so maybe, call the tool in a different way in the survey?? I think the tool is called Webconference and can be integrated either with ADOBE CONNECT or with OPEN MEETINGS.

For example we use it in production for Adobe Connect and Navarra's University uses it for Open Meetings.

I dont want to confuse but I though that it was idea to let you know,
cheers,
mariano

Running list:

(I left off Delegated Access on the assumption it is not a teaching and learning tool.
I left off Dashboard integration on the assumption it is related to Dashboard.
I don't know what some of the others do.
I'm starting to indent like I'm writing Python code. Why?)

Probably should make sure you at LEAST have the tools on the
experimental nightly server in the contrib tools list. Here is the
list:

Assignment2
Dashboard
Reports
Hierarchy
Delegated Access
Evaluation
Clog
Dashboard Integration
FormBuilder
Roster2
Endorsed

(leave out hierarchy as instructors would not use that directly)

Might be able to leave out a couple of the others as well. I'll leave
that to others to comment.

Hi Neal,

Survey looks ok to me.

For the tool list:
1. Whats announcements2? Do you mean assignments2?
2. Mailsender, Profile2 and Roster are core tools.

cheers,
Steve

Hey all,

I'm not sure I struck the right balance among all the input that I
received on this survey (thanks for the input!), but I tried. Lazy consensus
by Wednesday afternoon, Pacific time (I prefer to get this out in the next
day or two, but not sure if we can speed the process up?).

Sample Survey (just one tool listed per page, as a template/example) -

Here is my proposal:

* One question per tool. One instruction per page of tools and then each
tool is a question. Instructions - 'For each tool, indicate if it has
significant use at your institution.'

* One answer per tool : Yes, No, Don't Know, Not Applicable (N/A, we
don't use this tool)

* Two pages of tools - Core tools, Contrib tools

* Final page - External Tool / LTI - free-form text box to enter any LTI
tools being used

* Two queries to be run by DBA's. MySQL and Oracle versions (special
thanks to Steve S. for getting this in shape) -
https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/TCC/CLE+Tool+Use+Queries

* Demographics - Institution (required), Name (optional), Email
(optional), Sakai CLE version (optional). All other questions, optional.

have it's own page)
