[sakai2-tcc] Outcomes of TCC - CLE Coordinator meeting on Thursday

What are the other things Aaron wondered about for 2.9?

If they are critical bugs, I agree we should look into including them. However, if they are features I don't think it's appropriate to keep merging stuff in if we want to release 2.9 this year.

Subject: [sakai2-tcc] Outcomes of TCC - CLE Coordinator meeting on Thursday

1) The first outcome is embarrassment. :-) . We had our best turn out for the TCC - CLE Coordinator meeting to-date and we had technical difficulties, which were part user error, and part Calliflower itself (perhaps). It was instigated by some Calliflower-like music playing in the background, which was initially amusing and almost led to an impromptu Karaoke session, but, short version, ended in everyone getting booted off of Calliflower and only a few rejoining <sigh> .

2) Sam and I gave a brief update of the 2.9.0 release (before the Calliflower problems) which is looking (cautiously) optimistic, including from the Security perspective. However, in the second half of the call, with the few folks who came back online, Aaron remembered - https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/TCC/TCC+CLE+2.9+Action+Items , and a few items that he wonders if we should get into the 2.9.0 release. The one that sounds most serious to me is KNL-600 , which can result in data loss, and the patch to fix is currently in use at other schools.

3) No meeting next week. Though that could change depending on outcome of discussion on item #2? Perhaps we need to review those 2.9 Action items to clean up loose ends?

4) Time zone meeting proposal "passed", such as it is. I will poll TCC, asking members who attend regularly to pick the best time to have a standard meeting. For October, I'll use a Doodle poll to see if we can get one meeting that can be more inclusive of other Time Zones.

5) Folks seemed open to idea of having the TCC - CLE Coordinator meeting be a combo meeting that might include TCC issues. If we do this, I'll ask Matt, as TCC Leader, to compile the agenda for the TCC. I'll still be responsible for CLE Coordinator agenda items. I anticipate needing more training/help/guidance after the 2.9.0 release. And I'll keep you posted if I learn more about things like Mobile effort.

6) No discussion on the Reporting proposal. I'll give this more thought and I'm still open to input.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers,
