[sakai2-tcc] Discussion: CLE LA Project Coordination Recommendations

Colleagues,
        At the CLE LA Project Coordination meetings the group collectively agreed on a number of recommendations.  It's time to revisit these for updates, gather brief summaries and to gauge if we're still in agreement.   I have outlined the major points below.  If you are the lead of an item please provide a status and ensure there is a JIRA.  For items where this is unknown or there is none, please let the group know if you are interested in moving something forward.

Lastly  are there other items missing from the list?

Let's use the rest of this week for discussion with the goal of completing this formal voting by Wednesday (7/27).

*         Inclusion of NeoPortal.

o   Lead: Chuck Severance

o   Status: In trunk.    The chat showcased with this new portal should be disabled until the technology is reviewed and performance tested. Has this been done?

*         Inclusion of Lesson Builder  in provisional  (ie stealthed) status

o   Status:    migrated from contrib to the main svn repro.    Still needs help module

*         Inclusion of Mailsender, a drop-in replacement for the deprecated Mailtool, as a core tool

*         Upgrade to Tomcat 7

o   Status: Needs to be a part of documentation

*         Recommended JDK is minimally 1.6

o   Status: Needs to be a part of documentation

*         Adoption of a release schedule [1] that closely mirrors that of 2.8.0

o   Lead(s): Megan & Beth

o   Status: Slightly updated so most voting is done by end of month.   Cleaned up 2.8 reference and any 2010 dates.

o   JIRA: n/a

*         Support for IBM DB2 & IBM WebSphere Application Server

o   Lead(s): Need TCC member to take lead on this.

o   Status:  Needs proposal.  Some ideas included officially remove support (ie clean up files), leave WAS in trunk, remove the build. Leave Readme.   Also need resources (Nate A speculated on getting Marist involved)
