[sakai2-tcc] DISCUSS: Architectural / Library Changes for 2.9: Tomcat 7 & JSF 1.2

I am in favour of moving to Tomcat 7 & JSF 1.2 for the same reason. We need to keep Sakai's lifecycle in synch with where the majority of bug fixes are taking place in the third parties libraries etc. We do not want to incrementally fall too far behind.

Our CTools operations notified us to an announcement made on the apache lists today that Tomcat 5.5 end of life is September 30, 2012. [1] I think this means that there should be no question that Sakai 2.9 needs to be running on Tomcat 7, as there will be no more bug fixes and the 5.5 releases will be more difficult to find.

This would also mean a period of time where Sakai 2.8 is running on an unsupported tomcat before it we get to 2.10 and 2.8 is unsupported.
