It will still be in the graphic at the top of the page and I'm the footer. Users just won't see things like "please enter your Sakai username" or "Sakai help pages" or other unnecessary appearances of the name.

I agree.
The second option is very easy with the new tools we are using to translate. We can search easily all the strings with the Sakai word on them. And I think they are some, but not a very very large number.

The first option about use the name in the properties file, requires more developing. But once we have all the strings located... maybe it deserves the effort.

I vote for a mixed way. Try to remove it for the strings where this is not absolutely needed and use the "complex" approach in the ones that we definitively need to say the name of the system. I must say that I think that we can avoid most of them or all.

Wouldn't it be great if the word "Sakai" didn't appear in any of the onscreen test. Every single institution will have to change this to the local installation name - thing of the Sakai-man-ghours spent doing this.

One solution is to use the "ui.service" property instead of the string. The other is to remove the word Sakai and, if necessary, replace with a generic word or phrase such as "this system".
