Hi Martin

We would love to look at your comparison chart of features between VeriCite and Turnitin. Is there any way for you to share that with the group?

Thanks,

Hi Tyler,

I feel your pain! We have the same issue here at the LAMP Consortium<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.lampschools.org&d=AwMFaQ&c=OrYO-caJHQE1g_AJU3az1awi55It-bjDIQrtRiZ6WBk&r=lM_slnF_vYBe-t1avO_s3g&m=-kvezATUInzZHsxiHVTmmi3U0AlPe2KkzKcokEDyXkA&s=eV4GGhciMHZZpl0AW76lpzV6Ev_7h44tYOOyAE8FNaU&e=> not to mention the fact that Turnitin kept increasing its pricing to the point that we just couldn’t afford it any more. I’m thankful to report that there is now an alternative.

We moved to Longsight’s VeriCite tool this past summer and I’d recommend you look at it. It is truly, completely LTI compliant, integrates beautifully into Sakai, and processes student work in near real time. It also has other advantages in that it will analyze multiple submissions for a single assignment. The only down side is that it does not have as big a database as Turnitin for comparison (although that database is growing all the time). And the price, well, there just isn’t much I can say except that we can afford it.

I have a comparison chart of features between Turnitin and VeriCite if you’re interested.

Hello all,

Turnitin has informed us that their API will be discontinued at some point during 2015, which is a shame as that is how we use Turnitin here at Bradley. Unfortunately, we have found the Turnitin Sakai LTI tool to be lackluster (being extremely polite here) and it will not be an option we consider using in the future. I am sure we cannot be the only school that is currently in limbo here with Turnitin, what are some of your institutions looking to use after Turnitin kills their API?

Thanks,
Tyler
