[Using Sakai] MathML in Tests & Quizzes

I have a problem with using MathML in the Tests & Quizzes tool. Here is a "minimal" example:

1) I want to enter the LaTeX code "The following space $U$ is a vector subspace of $\mathbb{R}^n$:" for a multiple choice question.

2) I convert it to MathML at http://www.mathtowebonline.com/ and obtain:

<mrow>
	<mi>U</mi>
</mrow>
</math>

<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML">

		<mi>n</mi>

</mrow>
</math>
<!-- end MathToWeb -->:

3) I paste this code into the "Question" field by first selecting "show/hide rich text editor", then clicking on the "source" button , pasting, clicking on the button again. The formula displays perfectly in my up-to-date version of Firefox.

4) I save the quiz and take the student preview. The formula looks bad. I edit the question, click on "source" once more and see the following:

	The following space U is a vector subspace of ℝ n :</p>

So my question is: why did all the beautiful MathML disappear when saving the quiz?
