Thanks, Adam -- and everyone!

Glad to see on the lists and Twitter that conversation is happening. :) I just returned home from the conference so I'm catching up with the conversation. Will respond more later.

Quick responses:

* Excited to hear about your work on Assignments 1, Adam. I look forward to hearing more!

* Site Info. Wow, cool idea. If the tool could be role aware and display a different label by role (e.g. instructor or student) that would be amazing. I'm not a programmer or sysadmin, so not sure what the performance hit would be, but sounds like a great idea.

* Edit Tools/Page Order. Could definitely gain efficiency if there was one tool over two. I was taking a "baby step" approach and tossing out a few things that might be low-hanging fruit in the area of consistency or tool name improvement. I'd def +1 a single tool for adding, renaming, reordering, removing, hiding, etc. the tools in a site.

* Forums / "too many tabs" -- thanks for the support! It happens enough to be a pain and gets complaints from professors and students alike. We're upgrading to Sakai 2.9 this August, so perhaps Forums 3.0 running in Sakai 2.9.2 would resolve it... after our first student orientation training, we'll know! :o)

Thanks again, all -- more responses soon.

Sincerely,

Alan Regan

Alan

What a fantastic list. I too dream of consistency - I think a lot of inconsistency comes from the different page templating systems, Wicket, JSF, RSF etc. they all have their own calendar widget and so on.

I have some comments.

+ Ass 1 vs Ass 2

We've thrown our lot in with Ass 1 and intend to port the handful of improvements that Ass 2 has over Ass 1 , whether we'll have time is another matter. We are currently rewriting the Turnitin integration to use the new SDK.

+ Site Info - perhaps the name could differ on role Site Manage (for 'staff') Site Information (for 'students')

+ Page Oder - terrible name, I agree. The tool is also beset by problems and could do with an overhaul. If you use the Page Order tool, do you really need edit tools, isn't all the edit Tools functionality covered by Page Order. Edit Tools could be dumped and replaced by an improved page order tool called "Tool Management"

+ Forums: "Too many tabs error" - I agree, how annoying!

Keep up the good work.

Subject: [Building Sakai] My Sakai 2.10 wish list

All,

Before the conference is over, I wanted to share my "wish list" for Sakai 2.10. My list is based on feature requests and comments made about Sakai at our institution. Just wanted to see if any of these items are also of interest to the broader community.
