[Using Sakai] Free text checking tools for students

Dear All

We received a bulk email encouraging use of the following websites and free tools:

         http://www.duplichecker.com
         http://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/

The sites look reasonable enough, and the second one does provide a privacy policy. They both provide clear links to WriteCheck, which is the commercial product that students can use if they want to check their own work.

Students at our university may not use our Turnitin licence independently of their lecturer/tutor/supervisor. It would be nice to be able to recommend some free tools to students.

Does anyone know of or have any experience of using the above sites?
I would appreciate any input or comments.
