[Using Sakai] Using gmail smtp for sending email

Hi,

I had made entries in the sakai.properties file to use the gmail smtp
server to send emails to sakai users.
When it is not worked I checked in jira, which showed these 2 work outs. I
am confused with regard to which one is to apply.

and also about
