[Using Sakai] Giving students the right to add schedule events to a course site, any stories?

Hello all,
Can any of you relate any experiences of instructors allowing students to add event to the class schedule? For some reason, we suppressed the Permissions link within Schedule, but we think perhaps instructors might want to enlist students into entering events, such as readings. Any stories from the field, pro or con? I can't think of a reason not to reintroduce this, since it's up to instructors to opt in.
