[Using Sakai] editing quiz points

I apologize if this is a really stupid question, but the person that usually supports the end user's has left and I, the system guy, am stuck dealing with functional issues.
That aside – here's the question that just came in -

"Exam 6 and 6ext were somehow successfully published without point values for the questions. Is there any way to get point values in the questions at this point?"

So Exam 6 and 6ext I've checked were published and are over.  Each with student submissions already.
Is it possible to edit something without losing the student's submissions ?
