[Using Sakai] Sakai and Math

Hi all,

We're interested too. We're trying to figure out if we still want to do assessment with WeBWorK or if there's a better option (it doesn't seem like it so far - but I'd like to be wrong on that).

A number of our Mathmatics profs here are advocating the construction of equations through wolframalpha.com and submitting the URL (ie. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=f%28n%29%3Df%28n-1%29%2Bf%28n-2%29%2C+f%281%29%3D1%2C+f%282%29%3D2 ) or using the "Save as image" option to attach the formula. The logic being that for the large first year mathematics courses learning MathML or LaTex is not a useful skill - and they'll probably use WolframAlpha anyways to solve a lot of simpler questions.

Thanks for the editor plugin information,

.\.\att

I think we had a problem though were some of the latex was being removed by ProcessFormattedText and unless you wrapped it in in a tag that was marked with a special class it slightly slowed down page rendering, as the javascript scanned the entire page looking for the math delimiters.
