Hi all,

At Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), we are in the process of upgrading from our current 2.6.x to 2.8.0 for next fall, if everything goes as planned.

We have found several i18n issues is some tools that has been conveniently JIRA'ed and patched both for our 2.8.0 and also trunk. If anybody of you is interested, I can provide details. Just let me know.

Cheers,
   David

Asunto: [Building Sakai] Sakai 2.8 - Which institutions have upgraded already?

Hi, all.

At Pepperdine University, we'd like to adopt Sakai 2.8 for the fall, with an upgrade tentatively scheduled for early August.

We understand that both Rutgers and Univ. of Delaware have adopted Sakai 2.8 already. Is anyone else currently running Sakai 2.8 in production? I see Mathieu Plourde's note about a Samigo issue, and wanted to get feedback from others about key items to be aware of.

I'm also curious to know who is using the new CKEditor in 2.8 instead of the FCKEditor. The "pain" of MS Word junk in Forum posts, etc. is an issue for our community. We notice, though, that some features, like Melete, "Word Count" in the Forums tool, and some other features aren't working currently with the new CKEditor, but can be addressed. The new CKEditor seems to be a better choice for usability, accessibility, and the simple fact that it strips out the MS Word junk without forcing the user to know about and use the "Paste from Word" tool. So, is anyone using the experimental CKEditor option right now?

For others, we are likely to trail blaze the Elluminate integration for Sakai 2.8, with the help of our hosting partner, Longsight. We'll share the outcome with Elluminate so other institutions can benefit in the future.

Anyway… I'd love to hear experiences with Sakai 2.8 in production or roadmaps to adopt. Things to watch for, etc.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
