We have been working on the Sakai 2.9 portal for a while and it has stabilized in terms of its features and look and feel thanks to lots of feedback from the community, my SI791 class, and the SI622 design evaluation class.

So we are making preparations to move it to trunk in the next week or so. We will clean up bits and bobs, make sure things are properly internationalized, and make sure files are in their proper places before we do the merge. Remember that if you miss the old portal, it is there in all of its glory with a single preference setting.

We will continue to review and develop it in the trunk so comments will be very welcome from now until code freeze (the earlier the better).

Here is a video demonstration of the portal:

We have the "experimental" nightly server upgraded to the latest portal. Experimental has the old reorder so unless you check out your own copy of the branches, you will have to see it in the video.

Another fun thing to do is play with Adrian's Facebook-style chat. It is particularly fun if you make two accounts in two different browsers upload a profile picture to each. And then chat back and forth :) Or again just watch it on the video if you don't have time.

As always comments welcome.
