[Using Sakai] Timezone policy

Hi everyone,

It seems that time zones for users abroad are typically handled by stating
that all due dates are in the school's local time zone. Have any
institutions experienced issues with this type of policy in contrast to
the fact that Sakai allows users to configure and see due dates in
different time zones?

Are there any obvious reasons why an institution *wouldn't* want to
completely disable time zone configuration for the user to adhere to this
policy, other than they would be removing a convenience for the end-user
who may be working internationally?

Thanks,
