Hans,
You might want to start out by using one of the free demo systems that
various groups have put online.
If you go to www.sakaiproject.org and click on the "try Sakai" button
you'll be able to find several hosted "demo" sites. Several are free to
use.
Let us know if you have more specific questions.

[Using Sakai] first time use advice sought

Hello Expert Users:
I want to start testing and evaluating Sakai - so, where is the best way
to start? I want to work on some demos for a university (med school) and
then convince them that that is what they shoiuld be doing.
So to begin with I want to create an up-front page that lists scheduling
information for different terms or classes, and secondly I would want to
create a page where a specific course is supported in terms of goal
statements, general information including on management and grading and
copies of teaching files (ppt lecture files and recorded files) for
download by students.
Should I do this on my computer or should I have access to a site on the
school's server to begin this process?
Any pointers to get me moving in the right direction would be much
appreciated.
I should mention that using a course management system is not new to me:
The university I retired from used Angel Learning. I am sure that in the
end Sakai will allow us to do simialr or identical things - I am just not
yet sure about the first critical steps in the right direction.
Thanks a lot to anyone caring to reply,
