Thanks Neal for the posting and yes, this all seems accurate to me. 

I would like to stress with everyone that although the ideas discussed on 
this confluence page are not all new and connect with other discussions 
that have taken place within the Sakai community, they do very much 
represent just my own very early thinking.  There are definitely aspects 
of the current document which I don't think are "right" yet myself and 
need a lot more thought and input to flesh them out.  My goal in posting 
this was jus to stimulate a discussion, not put forward a proposal.

Finally, I and others in the T&L group have all been stressing that some 
of the ideas in the document would be, at minimum, major technical 
challenges and could even simply be impossible technical to achieve.  I 
and the larger group would value any and all input that those on the PMC 
may have but I'd particularly find it useful to hear from all of you on 
both the technical challenges as well as how we might overcome these (and 
the resources we might need to do so).

Below is an email I will be posting shortly to the Sakai teaching and 
learning lists about the call next week.  I'd love to have some PMC (and 
developers in general) join as well!

Colleagues,

As some are already aware from our discussions on the past few Teaching 
and Learning calls, I have been working to organize a "special" Teaching 
and Learning Group call for next week, Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 2 - 
3 PM Eastern Time (New York).  The goal of this meeting is two fold. 
First, we are hoping to engage more people in the work that the Teaching 
and Learning group has been working on over the past 6 months as means to 
accelerate some of these activities.  Second, we are at a point with some 
of this work where we want to broaden the community input and "check in" 
to see if there is consensus that the activities we've been working on are 
of value to the larger community.

Below is dial-in information for this call.  Please feel free to invite 
others from your institution or forward this to others in the Sakai 
community (and beyond) who you think might be interested.

With regards to the call agenda, I would like to propose the following:

(1) Update and Overview of Current Teaching and Learning Group Activities
- Teaching Capability Review Process
- Vision for a "Next Generation" Sakai
- Teaching with Sakai Innovation Award Program

(2) Discussion and Q&A
- General questions and areas that need clarification
- Do those new to the group see value in these activities?  Is there 
interest in contributing to these efforts?
- If so, what is the best process for working collaboratively on areas of 
mutual interest?
- How might we engage with other groups within the Sakai community?

(3) Group Goals and Next Steps
- What goals would be useful to set between now and the June Open Apereo 
Conference?
- Who would be interested in working on these?
- How might we work to pool resources needed to implement enhancements or 
engage in longer-term projects?

Hi PMC,

Josh Baron has posted a thought provoking vision for what Sakai could be 
[1]. Since I attend the Teaching and Learning calls, I know that Josh's 
main impetus for publishing this document is to generate ideas. He is not 
tied to this vision and would love to hear alternative visions, comments 
and any ideas. 

Since there is significant effort being put into expanding this 
conversation, I thought I would "ping" you , in case you weren't aware of 
this already (I realize at least some of you are).

Probably the best ways to provide feedback are to post on the Confluence 
page, attend a Teaching and Learning meeting (the next one in particular 
will be focused on this, if I remember correctly), or email Josh directly.
