Okay. I have a prototype solution.

The plug-in is not free, so not sure if this would be the final 
solution. Does it look feasible?

Some configurable elements in this particular plug-in like whether the 
user can specify her own poll option and whether it shows who has voted 
(by clicking on the votes for an item).
