I have a question about Signup - doesn't it use JSF?

We don't need incubation for tool promotions unless we as the PMC recommend it - ie the project was very new or we saw issues with it that needed to be worked through, or if the developer wanted it themselves. But of course that will slow things down.
All of these tools have been proposed for promotion and discussed before, IIRC.

I disagree. I see no reason why we need to submit anything to the IWG. We can handle adding signup or any other new capability to Sakai, an existing software project and community, ourselves.

The PMC can handle the above. It's one of the reasons we exist. I've already talked to Yale about licensing for instance (their code is licensed ECL v1 and copyrighted Yale University, for instance).

I would think that any new tool that is going to move from contrib to core is going to need to go through the Apereo incubation process right? This isn't incredibly different from the old tool incubation process which specifically would want a brief proposal as mentioned on 3.3

and the exit criteria

It looks like nobody from Yale has committed to signup for 2 months. While Adrian is still active on Roster2.

I would think that these 2 as well as Dashboard, and Delegated access (which is running in all our clients and has hooks into kernel) could be written up for consideration and would make solid contributions for the next release, but not if it would any would effect the release timeline, which already has a ton of work we need to do to get it ready.

Just looked at the schedule. Isn't it a bit late to talk about this with a mid-Oct freeze?

Yeah, I'd like to see roster 2 on the list as well.

I won't be at the meeting but in regards to the sign up tool, I have worked on that tool extensively over the past few years so can assist with getting it into core if we decide on that.

Can we add roster 2 to the list? There are lots of things that are in good shape that we can add, been discussed for ages, would be good to move to a pmc vote.

I think that it's beneficial to have this information posted somewhere. It would also be helpful to have links to the proposed schedule, ect.

Can you do that?

Agenda items are buried in the thread:

* Community Survey

* Anything related to 2.10 that feels timely - which right now feels like the schedule; and maybe defining what an "Alpha" should be

* How to get in community contributions like Yale Signup tool? Timing? - Just curious on this one. I think this is more of a PMC thing and not a CLECC thing?

* Improvements/automation feasible for QA ? https://github.com/johntbush/sakai-test-suite - I'm very curious about ideas for nurturing Selenium based scripts. I could see this an Apereo infrastructure issue AND a Sakai-specific project for improving QA.

* Any thoughts on how to keep our Jira Prod list updated? - Not sure if this is worth revisiting. Maybe a way to think of this, are there better/easier mechanisms to have our community institutions self report on status?

P.S. Please feel free to contribute items you would like to see on the agenda.

Thanks,
Neal

Whoops. Uhmmm.. we are meeting the day after tomorrow, Thursday - PMC - CLECC .

Aaron and I are presenting on Wednesday. No conflict.

My brain is in it's own time. It is a new day that combines Wednesday and Thursday called Thednesday.

FYI....

Also, I keep meaning to mention that I have a few conferences coming up in the next couple of months.

1) S2U in Madrid. First week in November. Presenting on Sakai.

2) NJEdge conference, in New Jersey (NJ). http://conference.njedge.net/2013/ . They are "sneaking me in" as a poster presenter. Looking forward to it. Naturally will have some bullet points about Sakai in general, also Rutgers in specific and may also have info on Murcia and UNC-CH (they've offered to provide some bullet points). I'm not allowed to "sell" Sakai, which is okay, since that is not what I want to do anyway. Conference organizers want me to show use cases about Sakai and mention Open source (I guess I need a couple of bullets about Open source since not everyone knows what that is).

I also am going as a participant to

All Things Open Conference in Raleigh - https://all-things-open.ticketbud.com/all-things-open . Participant, not presenting. If you see particular topics on the program you would like me to attend/report on , please let me know.

NC PMI conference - (I'm a certified PMP project manager through http://pmi.org<http://pmi.org/> and this is the local North Carolina Chapter) - https://www.ncpmi.org/event/2013-annual-conference - going on my own dime. Not presenting.

Hi PMC,

I've taken some additional feedback and incorporated it into the survey. I'm thinking about deleting question #10. Not sure yet. I tried to tweak the wording of questions so that they are less "jargony". I think running it by a non-technical person or group might be a good idea before launching, but first I want to get the essence of it in good shape.
