[Building Sakai] lessons problem

I’ve found a blocker-level issue with Lessons 10 and 10.1. It has to do with computing whether or not a user can access an item. This doesn’t involve the normal UI. The primary use is in the gradebook, to determine whether an item in Lessons shows up, though it is also used to control access to information in /direct/lessons.

The issue won’t occur with typical sets of lessons. However for complex situations, where the same page occurs as a subpage of more than one other page, and some of them are restricted to specific groups, the computation can be wrong. In some cases it can generate infinite recursion.

Since we’ve never actually seen this issue at Rutgers, I doubt it will be common, but I thought you should know about it. LSNBLDR-421 has a fix. However this is turning out to be complex to get right. I think the fix is right now, but I’m going to do further testing.
