[Building Sakai] future of Assignment 2

There have been a few threads about this although the last one was about 2 years ago...

The general consensus is that Assignments 2 is going nowhere - the work needed to plug the holes is not insignificant and nobody is actively working on the tool.

We started recommending that faculty use Assignment 2, because it looked like Indiana was developing it into a replacement for Assignment that would have a better UI. Currently it looks to me like more work is happening with Assignment than Assignment 2. What's the feeling on the future of the tools?
