Hello,

we have a special use case to accomplish using Sakai as CLE.

There is
a huge a project coming up, linking multiple institutions into one platform for e-learning and
collaboration.

I chose Sakai, as long as it is stable and mature for that purpose.

The blocker is that each institution has its own implementation of LDAP. some are using
OpenLDAP, some Active directory, ...etc.

We were asked to no recreate user accounts. I
thought of CAS behind Sakai, authenticating gainst LDAP servers.

the idea is to let
Sakai for the application, LDAP for user account (managed by institutions themselves), and CAS
between the two worlds.

I read that CAS can authenticate against LDAP. However, can we
setup CAS to authenticate against multiple LDAP servers?

the idea is that user1 from
institution1 (using OpenLDAP) can share stuff and communicate with user2 from institution2 (using
Active Directory), without creating those accounts in Sakai.

This way, we can scale
both Sakai and CAS to support the load.

Now, can you pease share your experience with
CAS, or even point me to the direct way to go.

thank you for your help.

Yours,
Alaa
