[Building Sakai] Back to Sakai

I recently wondered about RSF myself, so I asked Antranig Basman
(architect and developer of RSF) this question, "Do you want the older
form of RSF to be promoted as a viable UI framework?". His reply:
/I'm certainly happy to support any users of existing RSF tools -
anyone with questions or problems should definitely mail me
directly, since I am not subscribed to the Sakai lists. However I
think it would be best if we didn't encourage any further
development - I'm trying to remain focused on developing the ideas
of RSF beyond the level that they could reach in Java, and after 5+
years of work I think things are starting to come together.//
/
So you can see that Java-RSF will continue to be supported as far as bug
fixes go, but Antranig has moved RSF over to JavaScript, where it is
part of Fluid's Kettle project. Personally, I though the Java form of
RSF was great, so I'm a bit sorry to see that he has no further plans
for it. Still, the current version is quite stable. If you want to use
it to enhance older code ... go for it.
Probably the easiest way to bring your app up to date is to install
Sakai 2.9.3 and add your app to it. Likely it will break, but the
errors should guide you to fixing it. If you get stuck, ask this list.
