Hi Noah,

Basic LTI is probably exactly what you want.  Basic LTI definitely includes
ability to save assignments.  We (at CTools) created a very useful project
for helping with LTI, at
https://source.sakaiproject.org/contrib/umich/google/lti-utils/

If you go to the parent URL, you will also see sibling called
google-drive-lti that is an LTI Tool Provider (TP) with README.txt showing
how to setup BasicLTI in Sakai site.  FYI, the Sakai site may be referred
to as Tool Consumer (TC).

Project lti-utils also includes a lot of what you would need to make
requests back to Sakai from the TP.  It currently has code for making HTTP
request from Java to get a site's roster, but was not written to apply
assignments.

Listen to what /Chuck tells you, as he may be the most knowledgeable person
on LTI.
