The stuff in sfcservice did work on 2.8, but it has been ages since I looked at it seeing as we (Lancaster) are on 2.9 now. The code in portal is the most current and if that could be made to work, all the better. You need both the UI stuff and the entitybroker component.

Is it not the case that the code on contrib is no longer supported and it is now in the core distribution of Sakai from 2.9 on in /portal/portal-chat

And it is probably not worth trying to make the contrib code work???

Can somebody help me with a svn link where I can find the floating chat that is attached to https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAK-17524.

Is there a released version of that tool?

I tried https://source.sakaiproject.org/contrib/lancaster.ac.uk/sfcservice/trunk but is a different chat.
