[Building Sakai] gradebook webservice

I don't understand how to use the webservices listed as available under /direct/.

For example, gradebook just indicates /gradebook/:ID:  What is the id - the gradebook id in the GB_Gradebook_T table? If so, how would one get it, via other service calls? Are there some examples of typical uses of these webservices?

Similarly for sitestats-report, what is that ID, and how would one get it?
