[Building Sakai] Admin user role

Sorry that should be an upgrade from 2.6.x to 2.8.1
If it helps, we're using the sakai.rutgers.linktool to try and get the Sakai role into an external app.

We just upgraded to 2.8.1 from 2.6.x. Previously, we had users added to the !admin realm to make them admins in Sakai with the default role of "maintain". We'd then admin to various sites with the maintain or instructor role (depending on site type), and the other admins would have the same role as "admin" on that site. After the upgrade, the admin users who aren't explicitly added to the site as particpants, are getting the .auth role. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing to get them to automatically use the site's assigned "maintain" role?
