[Building Sakai] resources properties setting

Hello,



We are currently using Sakai 2.7.0 and I have one setting on
sakai.properties:

default.resource.retract.date = 20121221  # the end of semester Dec 21, 2012





I’ve heard this is our old customization and it is called by
/content/content-tool/tool/src/java/org/sakaiproject/content/tool/ListItem.java:
String endOfSemester =
org.sakaiproject.component.cover.ServerConfigurationService.getString("default.resource.retract.date");



The default of the resource retraction date looks like one week, which is
mentioned at

I failed to find any documentation related with resources retraction date
and I am even wondering why resources tool needs retraction date.
Assignments and tests (samigo) need retraction date to control resubmission
and etc.



Is there anybody can explain to me why resources tool requires retraction
date and why one week can be a default, and What’s the difference between
delivery date and retraction date for Resources tool?



I am really annoyed by this setting, because I have to update
sakai.properties setting every semester and I would like to find a way to
eliminate this setting.
